In memory of Skyelar
Out of the worst night, a morning for others.
Sobbr Life began with a mother’s grief and a promise: that her daughter’s light would not end — it would multiply.
Skyelar was seventeen. She was taken by a drunk driver — a loss no family should ever carry. In the depth of that grief, her mother, Lyla, made a choice that only the bravest people make: to turn unbearable pain into a place where other women get to live.
She named it Sobbr Life — Saving Others By Being Responsible. And she named a house Skye’s Everlight, so that the light Skyelar carried would keep showing other people the way home.
What we believe
Recovery isn’t a program you complete and leave behind. It’s a home you build, one honest morning at a time — with structure, with dignity, and with other women who have walked the same road. We don’t treat women as cases. We open a door, and we tell the next scared woman she’s home.
Today, Sobbr Life is three houses across the Kansas City & Independence, Missouri area, and a growing community of women who are rewriting their stories — and helping the next woman rewrite hers.
